Sam Zeman called the meeting to order at 8:05pm at Addison Trail High School.
1. Information handed out to those present:
The state team rankings for the 2002 season
Information on “Opportunity in Athletics Commission” (concerning Title IX).
2. The following committees need to be set up at the November meeting:
A. Committee to Increase the number of participants
B. Committee to increase the number of schools offering gymnastics
C. Committee to increase and train judges
D. Committee to increase and train officials
Please think about the committee in which you would like to be a part. Every team should try to have someone from their school involved in one of these committees. We need your help!!!
Sam will call head coaches to get more people involved!
3. Co-ed Meeting Wednesday November 20th
Sam will call Betty Axelson and work on a Coed meeting.
This date should not be a conflict for the girls since meets will not have started.
Refreshments will be served at this meeting
We need a strong turn out in order to accomplish our goals for the sport
4. Rolling Meadows Clinic
A mail out will be sent to the competing schools by the middle of November for Rolling Meadows Clinic and will be posted on the website-www.ihsgca.org.
5. Casino Night
Casino Night will be on Tuesdays November 5th, 12th, 19th, 3 people needed for shifts 6pm-9pm and 9pm-12pm. It is located at the Harrington at Central and Montrose. The girls date is December 3rd. If you have any questions call Eric Liva.
NEW BUSINESS
1. NATIONAL CHAMPION
Congratulations to Jason Enke from Lyons Township, the 2002 national high school horizontal bar champion.
2. NATIONAL MEET
National Meet will be in Las Vegas but will be held in a different facility.
3. TELEVISING THE STATE MEET
Sam will call the IHSA and check on the possibility of showing the 2002 State Meet on local Cable stations.
We will use a collection of tapes from State Meet at Schaumburg.
4. GAMMA PHI CIRCUS
The Gamma Phi circus will be putting on a show at Mundelein High School on November 2. Showtimes are 2pm and 7pm. Please tell your athletes.
