I. Treasurer's Report

Old Business

II. Skills to Rules Committee

III. Discussion and Voting on Proposals

A. Voting on Constitutional amendments - included at end of agenda. The vote was unanimous in favor of the constitutional amendment change.

B. Discussion of Rule Change Proposals

1. No salto 1/2 twist at freshman level and reinstate the scale - Jason Orna felt that the ½ twist requirement does not lead to varsity progression.

2. Replace Salto 1/2 twist with headspring/handspring - Blaise Blasko withdrew his proposal of the ½ twist salto. He felt that it made for better gymnastics on the lower levels and will progress towards varsity.

3. Add an A press requirement for freshman to replace the 1/2 twist requirement - Rob Defano suggested removing the ½ twist. He felt that to try to stay consistent with the varsity requirements we should keep the scale and use an A Press.

IV. Top Twenty

A. Second Top Twenty lists are due by Sunday, April 22nd.

B. Top Twenty will be accepted on the Internet only. Please resubmit any scores from the first top twenty that you want included using the website form.

C. Top 20 lists will be posted at www.ihsgca.org

V. Hall of Fame

A. Banquet

XI. Video Taping of State Series

A. Kathy Nagel, who has taped the State Series the last few years, wanted to know what the Association would like in terms of video coverage.

B. Association agreed that:

1. She should video Sectionals to show at State Meet

2. A variety of schools be video taped and shown at State Meet

C. Order forms for pre-ordering the CD-ROM will be made available at Sectional and State as well as being on the www.ihsgca.org website for downloading.

XII. Other New Business

A. John Brinkworth brought up the idea of presenting gymnasts with a certificate if they perform an uncommon skill or one that has not been seen before.

B. Lake Geneva Clinic

1. Ed Raymond is looking for ideas for the Lake Geneva clinic. Contact him if you have any ideas.

2. You can earn CPDU by attending the Lake Geneva clinic.

C. Ed Raymond communicated his disappointment in coaches for not turning in their seeding scores to the State for sectional assignments. He felt that it sends a bad message to the IHSA about our involvement. Suggestions were proposed that teams that do not turn their seeding scores in on time should be reprimanded.

D. The Girls Association expressed an interest in opening better lines of communication with our Association. They suggested that the Executive Boards meet periodically. They also suggested that the format of the Mixed Pairs meet be changed to increase involvement.

E. Andy Isaacson suggested that the Boys Association should have a permanent chair representative on the Advisory Board that would replace Kathy Krebs.

F. Jeff Robertson mentioned that a task force that would look into changing the State Meet format was forming.

G. Barrington High School has two coaching openings for next year and many teaching openings.

Constitutional Amendments - Proposal

National High School Meet Team Selection Committee

The NHSM Team Selection Committee is empowered to act for the membership in determining the National High School Team from the list of nominated gymnasts provided by Association members during the April meeting of each season.

A. The NHSM Team Selection Committee shall

1. Select the gymnastics for the National High School Meet from the list generated by nominations during the April Association meeting.

2. Determine how many gymnasts shall comprise the National High School Team.

B. The NHSM Team Selection Committee shall be composed of five members.

C. The procedure for election to the NHSM Team Selection Committee will be that

1. Nominations by Full members will be accepted from the floor with a second by a Full member for any qualified member at the February Association meeting.

a) the nominated member must accept his nomination to then have his name placed on the ballot.

b) self-nominations will be provided by the Secretary-Treasurer, with no seconds required.

2. Election of NHSM Team Selection Committee members will take place at the February meeting with the five Full members receiving the highest total votes being elected to the Committee.

3. The members elected to the NHSM Team Selection Committee will hold their position until the end of the current season.

D. The lead coach for the National Team will be selected by the Selection Committee.
