· Doug Foerch stated that he would put together a list of skills not listed in the Rules Book
· Rulings on interpretations will be posted on the IHSGCA website and faxed to schools
· The deadline for submissions to the Rules Committee is March 20th. The Rules Committee will make rulings by April 1st
· Remember that there is no more scale requirement on the Frosh/Soph level. It has been replaced by a ½ twist minimum salto requirement. Frosh/Soph requirements can be found on the IHSGCA website
New to this year; Rule changes
Feet need to be together on landings (see interpretations on website for interpretation.)
Press handstands; if elbow bend is greater than 0.10 point off, no B credit will be given
Matting of 4” thickness will be allowed one time for D skilled tricks during routine
· The Internet program is not quite ready, we will still be submitting top 20 to Steve Foerch at Niles West High School
· Top 20 lists will be posted on the IHSGCA website
· The form for writing your top 20 list is available on the IHSGCA website for download in PDF and MS Word formats
· Due dates - March 20th and April 17th

· Warm-ups at 10:00 AM, meet begins at 12:00
· Make sure results are faxed to newspapers at completion of meet on Saturday. Send results with a brief story about the origins of the meet and the meet format. Bring fax numbers of your local papers to the meet

· Sam introduced Don Ohanus; Don is asking the Association to consider Al Bergmann and Henry Smidl as candidates into the Hall of Fame. Both are Founding Fathers of Illinois High School Gymnastics

· There is discussion of a judges clinic possibly in March
· Clinic and papers must be submitted to the IHSA by April 7th to be eligible for State meet
· Vic Avigliano proposed having (2) two hour session clinics
· John Brinkworth suggested using mixed pairs as a clinic for future
· Bill Cordts suggested having routine videos as well as a Q&A and live routines for judges looking for certification
· This clinic would satisfy the course requirement for judging the State series
· The clinic may involve gymnasts performing routines for judges to judge and discuss
· IHSA submits a list of their 3 judges based on their power rankings
· Those judges respond with the dates they are available
· Doug Foerch stated that 55 judges were made available for officiating
· The IHSA then goes to the next judge on their list
· This process continues until all judges are selected
· The Association would like to generate a list of the top 12 judges for the State meet
· Process currently being used to pick the National High School Meet Selection Committee amended to the Association Constitution. (Tabled until next meeting)

· The following statement amended to the Association Constitution: "In order for an athlete to receive the stipend provided by the IHSGCA, a member of the coaching staff from participating schools must have contributed to the functioning of the IHSGCA in the current school year through petition of the steering committee"
· Coaches find one ex-gymnast to become a judge
· At least one member of each coaching staff become a registered official
· Bill Watts has an booklet on how to become an Official for anyone who is interested
· Jeff Robertson will resubmit the 12 teem proposal for State meet; he will give copies of the proposal to coaches to forward to their Athletic Directors
· Athletic Directors will meet April 25 to review the proposal
· There are a few job openings; coaches looking for jobs posted on the IHSGCA website

· Howard Rubin stated that Schaumburg High School has an Assistant Gymnastics coach position available; he also stated District #211 will have numerous teaching positions available for the 2002-2003 school year
· The IHSA is not going to televise the State Meet this year
· Ed Raymond stated that the IHSA has guidelines making it difficult for small television stations to film the State meet
· Meet held Saturday, April 13th at 12:00p.m.
· Meet is for all athletes competing for the 1st season
· Any school interested in attending needs to contact Bill as soon as possible. All athletes are welcome
· Suggestions were taken regarding the fundraiser for next year after mixed pairs meet
· Three positions available
· Jeff Robertson advised having members from the Association on the Committee

· Fred Dennis expressed concerns about landing feet together and the dangers to the knees and ankles
· Blaise Blasko suggested we refer to the FIG code and read how the rules are written
· Howie Sokol needs officials for open dates. Contact him if interested
· CJ stated the last home meet will be March 15th
· Meet will be held May 16th & 17th at 4:00p.m. at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV
· Entrance for gymnasts is $100, and $75 for coaches
· Reservations will be taken at Circus, Circus under the code BO5NGC; phone: 800.634.3450. Rates are as follows: $45.00 for Thursday night and $89.00 for Friday night
· John Brinkworth suggested a supplement for the cost of sending judges to the meet
· Rick Orna suggested that Freshman with club experience should be ineligible for these meets
· Congratulations to Marek Ciborowski on his nomination for Girls Coach of the Year

· Ed Raymond suggested the season start one week later due to the conflicts of Wresting, Girls Gymnastics and Boys Swimming
